Happy Thanksgiving!
“Many drafts were written when things began to feel unbearable. Composing a sentence is better than composing none; an hour taken away from treacherous rumination is an hour gained; following the thread of a thought to the end is better than having many thoughts entangled.”

Hello writers! We hope you all had a happy and healthy Thanksgiving—whether you did it inside, outside, via Zoom, or just in your head. We made too much food and ate too much cake—but that's what holidays are for, whether you're alone or with company. These national holidays always leave with us a sugar hangover, but also, with a strong desire to write. At the end of the day, we retreat into our writing hole, reach for our laptops, and crank out some words. We hope you did too.

We read and are reading some great stuff this week. Check out Lena Dunham’s unnerving and gripping piece about her efforts to get pregnant, False Labor, Roddy Doyle’s new short story, Life Without Children and Nina Riggs’ beautiful memoir, The Bright Hour: A Memoir of Living and Dying. It’s almost winter—we need to immerse ourselves in great stories.
